Life in Lockdown

The last few months have been like none other due to the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. Watching the news and seeing the amount of people who have tragically fallen ill to this virus has been depressing as well as the social isolation of being unable to see anyone and living alone. However, I have used this time to make positive changes.

Me, myself and I

A lot of people have asked me how I am coping during quarantine because I live alone. PerSonally, I LOVE IT! I don't have to feel guilty for missing out on anything because I wanted to stay in bed, I don't have to feel guilty for ordering takeaways because it's safer than going to the shop and I don't have to feel guilty for wanting to be alone. Sometimes I just don't want to meet up with anyone, it's not a bad thing but I do get judged for it, but not anymore I don't! I just like my own space, being able to do what I want when I want so quarantine hasn't been as mentally draining to me as it is to others.

My home has never been so clean

For those who know me know that I love to do all my home DIY. I grew up around construction with my dad's property flipping and renervation business and a highlight of my childhood is riding in the vans with the builders. With my home I done many tasks myself like laying the flooring, hanging the wallpaper and building the flat packed furniture. Because of my busy schedule I haven't been able to finish everything so I have utilised this time to finish decorating my home and tidy and reorganised everything.

Tik Tok and chill

For a social media influencer, I'm not as tech savvy as one would expect. It's expected that influencers be on as many platforms as possible with large followings also which isn't as easy as one may think. With social media platforms, I am normally the last to create an account - i.e. it took me until 2017 to create an instagram account. Using a completely new platform takes time to master and it's not easy starting and growing a new platform. TikTok has been interesting to get the hang of and understanding how to use the app however, I am starting to enjoy it. I love to dance, as a Persian I grew up around a lot of dancing, especially belly dancing so I am excited to use TikTok to show that side to me. Hit me up on TikTok and tell me what you think.

Working from home

Some of you Being self-employed, work never ends. It's hard to switch off sometimes so it has been refreshing to not do as much work. Most of my clients are restaurants so naturally business is slow in that region and the rest of my clients are dealing with the economic fallout of COVID-19 so work is slow currently. However, I see this as a holiday and an opportunity to relax and work on admin aspects of the business.

Change of scenery

I normally create content outside so being forced to remain indoors has presented it challenges to my instagram's content. However, challenge accepted. I completely neglected my home before, even though I have spent a lot of time decorating it. So I am excited to use this time to showcase more of my home and I feel that even after the lockdown I will still posts some home shots on my instagram. I've always wanted to learn more about photography so I have been using this time to develop my photography skills and have even brought a new equipment to experiment with. I've always wanted to make-up videos so now is the perfect time for me to start! If you don't already, follow me on instagram @misslulan to see how I do.

A book a day keeps the doctor away

I normally enjoy learning new things and skills, so I have enjoyed the lockdown as an opportunity to concentrate on specific things I want to master like coding and Trigonometry.

Of course I going to be spending more time on my blog during this time so definitely check in to see new posts. I will also be adding updates on my Facebook page @misslulan so check that out and message me your thoughts on there. But for now, peace out and stay safe!
